Twin block appliance and teeth?

Question

I noticed after wearing this, my overbite seems reduced; I can see my bottom teeth when taking it out. How long should it stay without moving things back? Also my gap looks a bit smaller with this appliance, does it close gaps when worn for a while thanks?
