Question:

Two setters on my team?

When the coaches posted the teams on the gym door, i made the team and two other girls on my team had an "s" next to their name. They asked the coach and he said it meant they were setters. The rest of us who made the team didn't have anything next to our name, so does that mean we'll be doing the 6-2 rotation almost every play?

  1. most likely yes. with two setters on the team a 6-2 would be the best. im on the freshman team at my high school and we have one setter so we run a 5-1. on our jv team they have two setters because we are losing our varisty setter this year. so one of them will move up and the freshman we stay to set jv. they are training her. they run a 5-1 for half of a full rotation then sub out the weak side and put the freshman setter in to set. then they run a 6-2 for the rest of the rotation. it works well, but for your team they would just run a 6-2.

  2. I would guess yes.  However, it really depends on the talent level of your setters.  If they are about equal, the 6-2 makes sense.  If it is really a first string and a backup, then you will probably run a 5-1 with the backup setter on the bench.

  3. probably

  4. hmmm... i think soo.

  5. i'm assuming so... it personally depends on your coach

  6. Yes

  7. basically yes

  8. No! you can also run a 5-1. I have 4 setters on my team and we run both. Its whaterver your coach feels is right for the team. (Most teams have more than 1 setter!!!)
