Question:

U of Toronto Med School?

Has anyone here been accepted into the Faculty of Medicine at U of T? Or knows of someone who has been? I just wanted some application pointers from a subjective viewpoint. General website information is not what I'm looking for. Who did you/they use as a reference? A prof? Their family doctor? A research supervisor?

Also, are you able to apply if you have taken the MCAT more than once? Do they use only your best score? Does taking it more than once affect your chances? I haven't taken the MCAT yet, but I'm a little nervous. :)

I *think* I'll do well, but there are no guarantees!

If anyone could please take a moment and help, this would be great! Thanks!

  1. First, apply to more than one medical school. Taking the MCAT once is best, twice is ok as long as you improve. Most med schools do look at your latest score, but they see every MCAT you've taken in the last 2 or 3 years, so if you took it multiple times they might factor that against you slightly if you didn't improve substantially. Twice is usually not a big deal, lots of kids do it. Get 2 science profs, 1 non science prof, 1 personal letter (or from a research mentor), 1 from a doctor. Buy an MSAR, it gives you detailed info on every USA and Canadian school of medicine, including what they look at, who the accept, and median MCAT score of the entering class.
