Question:

UK passport renewal living in spain?

I am British but a permanent spanish resident and need to renew my passport. I have checked the British Embassy in Madrid and it costs a whopping 175 euros to renew, whereas if I lived in the UK it would be 72 pounds. The difference is unbelievable! Has anyone tried to renew their passport using a UK passport office even though they live in Spain? Or do I HAVE to use Madrid and pay way more?

  1. sometimes you can find some very cheap flights to the UK from Spain, check on the internet, if not? you will have to pay that price,

but? i have found some very very cheap flight to UK, it is up to you,

but one must think of the time to get your new passport, and how long to be away from Spain, if you have a job? impossible,

you have to use the consular section of the UK nearest you,and the prices? will all be the same,

  2. You can re-new anywhere, but I think the trip to the UK would cost more than 103 Euros.

  3. Yes, I have had to renew my passport in foreign countries most of my adult life and yes it's more expensive... it doesn't MATTER how much it costs at home... it is how much it costs WHERE YOU ARE... and you are in SPAIN.
