Question:

US-Royal mail undelivered?

I've been waiting for a package to arrive from the US (I'm in the UK) and it's a few days later than expected. So my question is this

Who could/should I talk too about it? That could tell me if there's anything that can be done or how long it would take to find it and how long should I wait?

Oh yeah, it's just standard mail, no insurance or anything like that. (Unfortunately)

  1. I get mail from the us to the uk all the time, i can wait anything from 7-20 days for it to arrive and its just small bubble envelopes.

I would contact the post office and also contact the person who sent it.

  2. It does depend on the type of postage. Airmail should arrive in the UK in two days at the most, it will then most likely take a further day to arrive at your door. Standard, or "surface", can take up to a month to arrive in the UK, as it may go by ship, and although the crossing may only take a week, there can be time spent sitting on docksides at either side of the Atlantic. I've seen Canadian bags arriving with despatch dates of up to three weeks prior. Some standard mail (usually letters or smaller packets containing nothing deemed "unsuitable for air transport") is carried by aircraft and can arrive within the week.

All in all, it depends on the type of postage and size and contents of the item posted.

I would say give it another week before you try anything. You should then try contacting your local delivery office asking after the item. Large items can sometimes be delayed at delivery offices. With no reference numbers, I am sorry to say that there is a good chance that neither Royal Mail nor the US Postal Service Customer Services will be able to assist directly.

  3. I'm afraid there willbe noone to talk to about it.

hopefully it will turn up but you don't even know if it made it into the countyr or not!
