is there any way i can request to be stationed on a ship for like 6 months?i would like to travel around to the ports of the world but im obviously glad i didnt join the Navy i just think that would be cool.i would prefer an aircraft carrier as i heard they are like small cities on the water, and also if anybody has first hand experience as to the day to day duties of a Marine serving aboard a Navy ship.thanks.also my MOS is field artillery, which has absolutely nothing to do with ship security haha

  1. Odds are you will end up in 29 Palms with your MOS

  2. Your unit could go on a MEU in which you go out to sea for months on end on a LHA or LHD in several locations.  It is smaller than a Carrier but is used by the Marines for exercises, etc...

  3. WOW..Ummm..usually many are trying to find ways NOT to be on the 'boat'...lol...truly I have been on 3 carriers since I've been in (over 10) and hearing about it, and living it, are totally different things.  There are a few carriers that have Marines aboard, however I have never had any on mine during my deployments.  Not knowing too much about field artillery, I know it has nothing to do with us Navy personnel.  Marines can usually be found on communication ships or 'gator freighters' (amphibious ships.. AGC, LCC, APA,LPA, APB, LHD,APD,LPR,AKA,LKA,LCI,LCS,LHA,LPD,LHP,...

  4. Your Should of chosen F/A-18 mechanic and tried to get on a aircrat carrier that way
