I just installed ubuntu 6.10 a few days ago and I can't figure out how to enable my wireless, when I use the lshw commands, it shows that I have a AIRForce One 54 G, with driver bcm43xx, but at the top it says *-network:1 DISABLED

Also under the network I have the wireless box checked.

Please help

  1. It'll probably work under the latest version of Ubuntu -- 8.04.

6.10 is a very old version and doesn't support many wireless cards.

  2. I would also recommend going to 8.04 but it sounds like your device is recognized so the upgrade may not fix your problems automatically.  Have you gone through the wireless configuration to enter your WEP or WPA information.  This is required before the network interface will be enabled.

  3. i would use ubuntu 7.10 --but before u change go to the forum and ask for help --i do when i am stuck--am not good at explaining things
