Unable to connect to old PC

I had this problem with my old computer, encountering it again, but can't remembe what the solution was. I have a high-speed parallel cabel, so SmartConnect won't recognize it, but there is no button to change the standard parallel to high speed parallel, the blue one that came with it. Help!
