Understanding Poker Hands?

The ? is are the following hands considered straights:

8,9, 10, J, A & 7,8,9,10,K

Or does the sequence have to be a queen for the first hand and a jack for the second

  12. a straight DOES NOT have to be of the same suit, a straight flush has to be of the same suit.  As long as it's 5 cards in consecutive order, it is a straight.  Neither of those hands are straights, it would have to be like 9,10,j,q,k
