Unique plants for Minnesota?

I am looking for some very unique vegitables or fruits that i can grow in Minnesota! Does anyone know of some easy to buy or grow plants in Minnesota?

PLEASE HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEE...

  1. Here's a few links to great web site for growing things in Minnesota....It is all part of the "MINNESOTA GROWN" program. The last link for example is a list of where you can buy plants--all over the state. It's a GREAT resource!

    Now since we are well into summer, it's too late to start a crop, but you can still plant annuals.

    Also, visit public gardens and plant stores to get an idea of what you want to get. The BEST place to visit is the University of Minnesota's Arboretum in Chanhassen, MN.  It is FREE to visit on Thursday evening.

  2. Visit a local nursery and the nursery will be able to show you native plants ideal for your area.

    Minnesota is in Zone 5 and it can get rather cold up there.  Hostas and pines would grow well.
