Universe has infinite energy?

Question

Some say the universe is infinitely expanding, so does it mean the universe has infinite energy for its infinite expansion?

No. Dark energy is the energy that's responsible for the expansion of the Universe and it's not infinite!

It's not infinite. Some day, The Universe will lose its energy and the expansion will cease. And then there may be heat death (entropy) or Big Crunch.

No. The energy of the Universe appears to be zero.

Let's say you have a ball on the ground.  It's not moving.  It's kinetic energy is zero.  It can't fall through the ground, so it's potential energy is zero.

As you lift the ball, you have to add energy to it to get it there.  The ball gains potential energy, but it's exactly equal to the energy you had to add to the system to get it there.  Since you had to add external energy, that's negative.  The net is zero.  It's more or less the same with the Universe.

Let's say that the Universe expands, and space carries your ball even farther.  Does that add energy?  The big brains say, "no".

But i'm no theoritician. I'm at the limit of my ignorance here.

no... whatever matter and energy exists now is it... matter and energy cannot be destroyed nor created, only converted. right before the big bang they have a habbit of saying 'infinitely dense' but that's more or less to get you to comprehend how tightly packed things were in the singularity.

the only thing that happens is our space spreads out, and thus matter is farther apart (or clumps of matter like galaxies) the energy follows a similar pattern, except it's energy....

yes, it grows faster than the speed of light, if we had enough fuel and time and speed as much as light and if we would try to go to the end of the universe it would take us 99999999999999999999999999999 zillion years to reach the end and that is only if it does not expand anymore but that wont happen

Our universe has for the most part always been expanding. Ever since the birth of our Sun and our Milky Way galaxy over 4.6 billion years ago our universe keeps on giving birth to new stars. Our universe will keep expanding on a very long timeline but not forever of course. Our galaxy will die in the very distant future but this is nothing to worry about for the next quadrillion years. Other things of course will happen during that time such as the Andromeda- Milky Way galaxy collision in about 4 billion years, the death of our sun in about 5 billion years, and the death of planets and black holes around 1 trillion years from now. So yes for now our universe has an amazing amount of energy and believe it or not our universe is quite young if it is only billions of years old and it still has another quadrillion years on it before its death. Our universe will be an amazing size after our collision with Andromeda!

NO its a finite number.  The Energy in this universe is equal to the ENERGY from the BIG-BANG many years ago.   As for the Universe's constant expansion, It would take additional energy to stop the Universe from expanding.   It does not require additional energy to keep it going. The Universe is slowing down, but this is due to it's own internal resistance and a few other energy absorbing factors etc.   An object in motion will remain in motion until another energy acts against it.
