Unsanitary Apartment> Mice motel!!!?

My family and I have been sneezing, my throat has been itchy, my face has been breaking out. I think this can all be due to the apartment we are living in; there are roaches here that have cooled down due to the poision, I see 1 roach every month or so, so the roaches are not too big of a problem however the mice are;

they crawl on the table & leave f***s, tear open the food, crawl on the sink and stove, and around the microwave and leave f***s, they run all throughout the house. My brother found 2 dead baby mice under his bed smushed and suffocated to death.

I clean up they still come, I sweep the floors and mop them and they still **** on them, they come back.

The landlord knows this all he did was put a few pointless traps down. There are still repairs that have not been made since last October, funny thing is the landlord is here everyday but never comes to our apartment. Why?

I have section 8 (housing voucher) I need to move, I don't have the funds what can I do?

  1. I'm pretty sure Trouble is right. Although I've never rented any of my apartments under Section 8, I am a landlord and if you have that many mice, traps aren't going to fix the problem.

    You need a professional exterminator and the cost of that belongs to the landlord.

  2. If you have Section 8 call your caseworker, they will have an inspector out there pronto. Section 8 will stop paying rent until the issue is taken care of and the landlord can do nothing as far as evicting you.

  3. The person above me is exactly right -- contact your Section 8 contact, and they will have the place inspected ASAP.

    You can also call the city's code compliance department.  They will have the landlord fined over and over until he takes care of it.
