  1. get professionally fitted theyll answer those questions

  2. If you are just starting maybe get a softer shank.

You can break them in a little bit. But you have to decide how to break them in for your feet.

I like the thicker elastics, but again you have to decide waht you like best.

Jet glue is for when pointe shoes are dead, not when you first get them. If your pointe shoes are dead use jet glue.

  3. Your arch can be better, make sure when you go on reliva [sorry cant spell] you go fully up till you cant go up anymore. :]Your turn out is wonderful, perfect. :]

As for your ankle they look strong, bbut you can ALWAYS improve, go but your local Walmart and buy ankle weights they work realllly good..

You have very pretty feet btw, I hate the way feet look but ur's are pretty.

oh pint shoes i like the gel toe pads they work good.

    Good luck with your dancing

  4. if u are flat footed... like me... i recommend using russian point or capezio concerto... if u have a strong arch... u should go with bloch...  the russian point are meant to be long term shoes if u have been dancing a long time... they take a while to break in... the capezio's are good beginner shoes... some bloch's have built in gel toe pads... I recommend starting with lambs wool toe pads... they are better

  5. Hey, I think I have feet exactly like yours... Although they do look kind of high I think they're low :( Just like mine... I am on pointe and I'm doing fine =) Just make sure not to sickle en pointe and try some releves and ankle exercises before going on pointe. I use toe separators and just lambs wool, it works for me. Just make sure you fluff it before you use it. You should ask your teacher some of these questions if you're so unsure. Also, when you go to the pointe shoe store they might recommend some things for you, if not go ahead and ask! Well, you need your hair in a bun, your ballet clothes, pointe shoes, possibly toe separators, lambs wool, ouch pouches, and TOE TAPE! (Trust me it's a must-have and life-saver!) DON'T use too much lambs wool or too many pads because then you will not be able to feel the floor.

I also am 13 and around 5'3" and 90 pounds! That's actually funny :P I'm going into Grade 6 RAD.

Ribbons just make sure you sew them properly, ask your dance teacher or person at the pointe shoe store. Breaking them in you probably should ask your dance teacher... I recommend bending them back and forth.. Do not break the shank! My dance teacher told me to bend them back and forth every so often so they can "bond" to your feet. Don't use jet glue!! You should sew all ribbons, and elastics are useful so they don't slip off your heel. You might need some clear nailpolish for the ends of the point shoe.

As for pointe shoes, your probably wide or normal and I recommend a medium or soft shank, depending on how high your arches are. High arched people tend to break in shoes faster thus buying a hard shank. And people like me need a soft shank, otherwise you can't break in your pointe shoes at all! Even after 7 months ;)... I personally have Capezio's Glisse's and they work pretty well. Bloch's are also good beginner shoes! Just make sure to get them professionally fitted and approved by your dance teacher before sewing anything! And your welcome :) Please consider these things.. It took me forever to type XD

  6. I'll just guide you with the pointe brand! ;)

OK. Please take this seriously, eventhough it is way easier to use them, DON'T!

Gaynor Maiden's are made for professionals. It is to give them a break and not suffer much. I have used them, and I am not a professional. It was wrong. Eventhough it was easier for me. You need to use any other brand. I recommend Sansha. This is because it will help you build a better foot. And Gaynor Maiden would not help you build them. Also, Gaynor Maiden are prohibited in many important ballet academies. So please take my advice and don't buy Gaynor Maidens unless you are professional, which obviously your not! I do not mean to be rude. ;)

Oh, and by the way, ask your ballet teacher to tell you which brand is better for you. Don't let some strangers tell you. :P But follow my advice! ;)

I am guessing you are getting your first pointe shoes, so get your shoes professionally fit! It will be way better.

    Hopefully I Helped!

  7. Ok, you don't have very strong arches so the 2007's would probably look good on your feet. Or try European Balances by  Bloch. You look like you are rolling over a little bit in your suesu (don;t know how to spell it- pic 3). You don't sickle which is good. But, you don't stretch your feet all the way when you point your foot and you are curling your toes. I would suggest the original ouch pouch for toe pads if you are a beginner- that's what i used for my first pair. Don't use toe separators unless you have bunions or you start getting bunions from your pointe shoes. I actually have like really bony feet so my bunions are terrible (genetic bunions+bunions from pointe shoes= not fun. haha) and i don't use spacers- they bug me if i'm going up and down a lot. And gel tips don't help besides with blisters and if you wear pads, you probably won't get blisters. If you get Grishko or Bloch brand pointe shoes, use Grishko ribbons and for any kind of pointe shoe use the wider elastic. To break them in, do a lot of releve's but don't go up on pointe, only go up to where you would in soft shoes. Jet glue is used if you are bending your shank and it snaps and you can glue it back together (happened to me once) or you use it to glue the fabric back to the wood in it. I would suggest a soft or medium shank. Go get fitted at your local dance store to know what size and width to get. Keep in mind that you will have many different kinds of pointe shoes over the years.

I'm only 11 just to let you know... I know all this because I've been on pointe for like 10 months (yeah, not a long time) and had about 5-6 different brands already. I've had European balance (first shoe) and they should be good for your feet. Not my feet though- I have a really strong metatarsal so i break shoes in when i'm trying them on if they aren't strong enough. Also, I know a lot of this because my Grandma and my Aunt own the dance studio I go to so i live, eat, and breathe dance. Happy Pointe shoe searching!

P.s- check out www.lecolededanse.org , thats the studio i go to. and on there's a picture of my feet in my pointe shoes on one of the class schedule pages.
