Question:

Urgent lip piercing questions?

I'm 14, and I'd get it pierced with parental conscent... in FL is this allowed? I will call the tattoo shop beforehand, but I'm wondering.

And Ku Ku, answered some of my questions on my other piercing question and told me that after 4 weeks, I should have a shorter bar fitted. How do I do this? Do I go back to the tattoo shop and ask them for it? Do I get charged for this?

Is there anything important, I'm leaving out, or any personal expirence/proffesional advice? Then that would be super amazing! I want to be able to feel informed as much as possible about my future piercing (this weekend) Thanks everyone!

  1. if you have parental consent you can do it

  2. Your piercer should be able to answer all your questions.

You will need to have the bar changed. The inital jewelry is longer, to allow for swelling, but it gets in the way once the swelling's gone down.

They'll be able to change it for you, and some piercers include this in their price, so you won't need to pay extra.

I'd also call ahead and ask about the aftercare. When I had my tongue pierced, I found out what I'd be doing for aftercare before hand, so I could stock up on mouth wash and soft foods.

The inside of the lip piercing will require you to swirl diluted mouthwash (it's treated as an oral piercing), whereas the outside of the piercing will need saline washes (treated as a normal flesh piercing). Your piercer can give you the finer details.
