V1 Cut????

To all you plane folk out there.. what is a V1 cut?

It's a training maneuver (usually done in a simulator) where one engine on a multi-engine aircraft is cut at V1, which is the takeoff decision speed.

It's one of the more difficult maneuvers because the airplane is rather difficult to control because of the low airspeed (which reduces rudder effectiveness) and the high power on the operating engine (which makes the airplane want to turn - in some cases full rudder is required just to keep it straight).  Plus the fact that all this is taking place just as the airplane is coming off the ground.
