Question:

Vacation in Pensacola Fl?

My husband and I want to go to Pensacola Florida while he's on R&R. It'd be in either Nov or Dec. What would the weather be like there? We're looking for a laid back beach type vacation, luxurious hotels, etc. His best friend will be stationed there-- so we'd rather not go anywhere else in Fl unless its under an hour drive to Pensacola. Any tips? Or great places to go? If you've been did you have a good experience? Is it too tourist-y? I'd especially like to know what the weather/crowds will be like in Nov/Dec. Thank you everyone for answering. :D

  1. In the November/December time frame it will still be relatively warm, it really doesn't get cold until Jan/Feb time frame.  The best, less touristy hotels are going to be on Perdido Key and the Orange Beach/Gulf Shores (AL) area.  Pensacola Beach, while not so much in the winter, is a bit touristy but nothing like places like Panama City or Daytona Beach.

Definitely visit Pensacola Beach though, there are some great restaurants and bars.  Peg Leg Pete's, Flounders, Hemingways, and The Dock.  The historical district of Downtown Pensacola is nice with some great restaurants like Dharma Blue, Jackson's, and The Fish House.

NAS Pensacola has a great air museum.

If you are interested in boating/fishing you can always charter a boat and go out...if you have access to the base, they have a marina on base with rentals.

There is an outlet mall in Foley, AL about 45 minutes away from Pensacola that is pretty nice and also has a great southern resturant called, "Lambert's Cafe".

    I hope that helps!

  2. Pensacola has a warm weather but can cold and very windy at night, so bring some jackets.  Not much you can do in Pensacola, there's a average size shopping mall.
