Van Gerwen makes for the mighty
With the help of a nine-dart finish, coupled with a 170 finish, Dutch darts star Michael van Gerwen was able to score an enthralling 6-1 victory against Dave Chisnall.
The UK Open qualifier event went into a new phase of excitement with the Dutch player claiming his mark at Crawley.
Van Gerwen is enjoying a wonderful experience at PDC at present after he was able to score a 6-2 victory against Jamie Caven.
In addition to this, he was also able to score a commendable victory against players like Andy Hamilton in the quarter-finals.
This victory was later accompanied with a 6-0 whitewash of the Australian ace Simon Whitlock.
"To win a tournament with a nine-darter and a 170 finish is great. I know I can play like this but you have to do it when it counts in tournaments, and I'm very proud that I did today".
He further added that winning his games consecutively without getting halted by defeats is excellent for him.
It is expected that, with the help of such performances, the Dutch darts player will definitely be able to establish his name among the best of darts within a very short span of time.
This can further be vindicated from the fact that in the last couple of games he has played, Van Gerwen has been able to score exceptionally well against the elite of darts.
Hamilton, or the Hammer of darts, was among the finalist at Ladbrokes whereas Whitlock has always been among the top-notch player of darts.
However, he must not forget the three defeats he has faced since the beginning of his darts season this year.
He stated, "In the three ProTour events so far this year my scoring's been great but in all three matches I lost, I've missed lots of match darts, but I hit my doubles at the right time today. I hope I can continue this now and this is a big step for me".
Van Gerwen is now making way for the next round of the event, which will take place at the Barnsley Metrodome.
Comprising a purse of 35,000 pounds he will be making an effort to qualify for the UK Open Order of Merit.
