I am looking for a recipe resembling the garlic cheddar biscuits. Has anyone given this a shot with nutritional yeast?

  1. You're not going to achieve the same result with nooch.

It's basically a savoury (and oily) baking-powder biscuit with seasonings and cheese in the dough.  Use a vegan biscuit recipe, add some garlic powder and seasoning suited to your preference, and a quality vegan cheese like FYH or Teese.

  2. Make then with soya cheddar cheese and a biscuit dough made with a vegan friendly fat like a soya margarine, I use fresh garlic and a few green onions, and some oregano.

I also use unbleached flour, a bit of rice flour/w wheat flour and potato starch, make the dough like pie crust (work the fat in until it crumbles), and the buttermilk element can be a bit of soya milk with a dash of white vinegar, you do have to add a tich more baking powder I have found a 1/4 teaspoon more, make them fluffier and they rise better.

  3. i haven't tried these, but i used to work there (one of the reasons i have no desire to eat fish ever again, lol) and i'll share a secret with you......the little bit of tangy taste that the biscuits have is lemon juice!!  melt a vegan "butter", add garlic salt and lemon juice, and brush it on top of the biscuits.  you won't believe how much it tastes like the red lobster biscuits!!! i make these at home all the time, but vegetarian instead of vegan.

  4. try the bisquick cheddar garlic biscuits.  they are quite good.
