  1. Use a big old portobello as a "burger". Even us meat eaters love that!

  2. Veggie burgers and veggie hot dogs.

You can find them at most grocery stores now.

Make sure you check the ingredients.

Some aren't intended for vegetarians and have some animal products in them.

And don't forget about corn on the cob.

I usually just put a bit of margarine (vegetable oil based) and pepper on them, then wrap them in aluminum foil along with a few pieces of onion, then put them right on the grill.

You can try putting a bit of BBQ sauce on some of them to see if you like it better.

  3. mmm begetable kabobs are really good you can put thick slickes of onions, different color peppers, mushrooms (if they like these) and even squash. Make sure you've got some sort of seasoning though, so it's not too bland.

  4. The sites below have TONS of great vegetarian BBQ recipes :)

    Good luck! ;D

  5. Get some veggie burgers and veggie dogs.. Veggie kabobs are a great idea also, find out if there are any certain veggies they do not like though..

  6. Eggplant

  7. Veggie burgers are always a good bet for me.

Also veggie kebabs are a great idea.. peppers, onion, tofu if you like it, courgette etc.

If you eat cheese then why not take some haloumi cheese as it bbqs REALLY well. I had it this weekend at my BBQ and it was deeeelicious.

Try some little gem lettuce on the bbq too (just cut in half and place the inner bit onto the bbq with some oil on) and let it colour on that side (the rest will steam cook), along with some spring onions on the bbq too. Serve with seasoning, and if you want a bit of paramesan cheese.

I quite like having red and white onion cut in to 8 so they're chunky put them on the bbq and brown them.. they are yummy.

  8. You can make an assortment of salads before the bbq and put them in the fridge until the bbq.  I know that potato salad and pasta salad and GREAT for outdoor picnics, so why not a bbq?  If you don't want to make them, you could buy them at Stop&Shop or Dave's.  Corn on the cob is good too.  If you are having burgers, you can buy some veggie burgers.  We bought frozen veggie burgers once, then cooked them on the grill and they were pretty good.  That way, everyone could be eating cheeseburgers and she could be eating a veggie burger.  She definately won't feel left out.  haha.  Good luck!  And have fun at the bbq!

  9. i agree with the first answer sweetcorn on a barbecue is gorgeous just leave until slightly brown and add vege butter

  10. Barbecued Seitan Ribz:

    1 cup vital wheat gluten

    2 teaspoons smoked Spanish paprika

    2 tablespoons nutritional yeast

    2 teaspoons onion powder

    1 teaspoon garlic powder

    3/4 cup water

2 tablespoons tahini or other nut butter

    1 teaspoon Liquid Smoke

    1 tablespoon soy sauce

about 1 cup of your favorite barbecue sauce

Preheat the oven to 350 and lightly spray an 8x8 baking dish with canola oil. Mix the first 5 ingredients together in a large bowl. Mix the water with the nut butter, Liquid Smoke, and soy sauce and add it to the dry ingredients. Stir to mix well and then knead lightly in the bowl for a couple of minutes.

Put the dough into the baking dish and flatten it so that it evenly fills the pan. Take a sharp knife and cut it into 8 strips; then turn the pan and cut those strips in half to form 16 pieces.

Put it in the oven and bake for 25 minutes. While it's cooking prepare your grill.

Remove it from the oven and carefully re-cut each strip, going over each cut to make sure that the ribz will pull apart easily later. Generously brush the top with barbecue sauce. Take it to the grill and invert the whole baking dish onto the grill (or use a large spatula to lift the seitan out, placing it sauce-side down on the grill). Brush the top of the seitan with more sauce.

Watch it closely to make sure that it doesn't burn. When sufficiently brown on one side, turn over and cook the other side, adding more sauce, if necessary. When done, remove to a platter and cut or pull apart the individual ribs to serve.

Also you can make tofu/seiten or vegetable kabobos and skewers! You can put tofu/seiten and a variety of vegetables like bell peppers, mushrooms, zucchini, eggplant, tomatoes, squash, onions, etc. Here is a good recipe:

  11. Use a big old portobello as a "burger". Even us trolls love that!

  12. veg kebabs is good. You can put cherry tomatoes zuchinni, mushrooms, onion, MARINATED TOFU, Bell peppers on them. Im vegetarian, and when i bbq i always put that combination of veggies and tofu on my kebabs. Try marinating the tofu in a mixture of soy sauce with garlic onion and a little lemon juice. cut it into bite size cubes and let it set overnight in ur fridge. the next day when ur gonna bbq skewer the tofu on the sticks with the rest of the veggies and ur set!!

  13. all kinds of good answers...

bring tin foil to cook the veg items in, do not let the meat and such contaminate the veg food...

do not eat meat and the accidental introduction of will cause very bad tummy trouble for me....

throwing up while camping really sucks...

  14. linda mccartney sausages and veggi burgers are nice,

veg kebabs are good with mushroom, baby corn, peppers. onion,  or buy a pack of meditaranian veg from asda or tesco fresh section it comes with an oil and herb mix, mix it all up together then put that on the skewars it's lovely,

corn on the cob is nice too but it has to be fresh

and i'm not sure how fussy your friend is but i would insist on my stuff being cooked on a seperate shelf first or on a disposable bbq so the mean doesnt touch it

  15. Hey!

The local grocery stores always have a "veg*n" section. You could get veggie burgers or tofu dogs. it depends what your friend likes. I would ask him. I like your idea of veggie-kebabs. That will be more versatile.

I make veggie kabobs lots. Buy a whole bunch of different vegetables and then your friend can make them herself with what vegetables she wants.

My absolute favorite things to put on a veggie kabob are bell peppers and cherry tomatoes.

    Good luck!

Note: Some vegetarians are picky and will not want their food to be grilled on any place that has ever been touched by meat, so you make want to be careful about that.

  16. apparently you can bbq tofu and it tastes really really, as long as you have a rub that can fit your dietary needs.

If you like vegies, make a tinfoil bag, put them inside, maybe with some salt and margarine and let them cook

  17. I love those qourn burgers that taste like chicken! Or my hubby makes vegetable kebabs consisting of onion, peppers, pineapple, things like that. Mind out for wind later though!!

  18. Veggie kabobs or veggie burgers. I like the blackbean burgers myself

  19. corn on the cob is fabulous on a bbq, whether you are a vegetarian or not

  20. Mushrooms on the kebab is a must.  Green peppers, small mixed pumpkins are nice and onions.

You can even add dried fruit like apricots or apple.

Brush it with butter and grind over Italian herbs.

  21. I alwasy love when camping to buy and cook.

Morningstar Grillers Style burger, or Garden burgers(veggie burgers). There is all kinds, chik pattys, and more.

There is also veggie dogs, but I warn you cook veggie dogs in tinfoil and they cook really Really fast if hte grill is properly warmed/hot. Wrap potatoes in tinfiol and cook them. Or tinfoil pockets of sliced- onions, potatoes, green or red bell pepperes, and spices like slat and pepper. I love Mortons Nature Seasoning- a yellow and blue bottle, I put that seasoning on Everything. Try kebabs with potatoe cubes, broccoli, onions, and more. brush them with a marinade or jsut butter or olive oil. Or jsut ask her what all she eats? Or if she is going to bring some stuff of her own? That always helps. Ask her to go grovery shopping with your family if ya'll go forone just for food and stuff before the campout.
