  1. Guppies and platies are livebearers and in my experience they aren't real fond of veggies like cucumbers and zucchini.  I feed such things to my plecos all the time and the guppies will sometimes give them a little nibble, but mostly they just ignore it.  I just attach them to a rock with a rubberband to get them to sink.  Now algae wafers and catfish pellets they'll fight the bottom feeders for and bloodworms in any form (fresh, frozen or freeze dried) never even make it to the bottom!  You can try a little zucchini if you want though.

  2. Sure! Veggies for fish!

You can give zucchini that has been sliced and boiled. Don't forget to let it cool off before you drop it into the tank. You can also boil green beans and spilt them in half before dropping in as well! Green peas are good for your fishies too. Once again, they must be boiled and split. Give those once a week and it will promote good digestion in your fish! Green beans are good too.. split and boiled as well. I have also heard of placing strips of nori(sushi wraps) in the tank as well.

..And, if you don't want to just drop these things in and have to fish out the remains, there are clips made especially for these food items that clips/sticks to the side of the tank. You can find them in your local petstore!

    Hope this helps!

  3. you can but zucchini is a much better choice. They darker the green the better.

To get your veggies to sink you can blanche them in the microwave for a little bit them stick them in the freezer for about 30 minutes. If they don't sink then you need to get a veggie clip which they sell at any petstore.

  4. I've heard alot of people feed fish cabbage. Just try to get the veggies to sink and they'll eat it.

  5. Hey TB,

Sorry to hear about your loss :-(

Cucumber and Sweet Potato is what my boys and girls get and they love it.  Always take the skin of them.  To weight them down, if you go to your local pet shop and buy food weights, they are tiny.  Just pierce them into the veg and drop.  I recommend you take the veg out within 24-48 hours as it can start getting a bit yuck.  On top of that you can feed them live blood worms, daphnia and brine shrimp and good for them.  If you cannot get live you can buy frozen food also.

    Good luck :-)

  6. They can eat any fruit or veggie, just chop it up into tiny pieces so your fish will have an easier time digesting it, after 2-3 minutes remove all uneaten food as it will foul the water.

  7. I feed them zucchini and I cut up a small piece and drop it in the aquarium. Since it floats you can just take it right out if they stop eating from it.
