Alright, I've been thinking about going veg for over a year now and i think i'm ready. The thing is I dont want to COMPLEATLY give up meat, just reduce it about 90 percent so that I can still get my sauses and mabee some flavoring in with my foods.

I need some good things to buy at the market that are good to have for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I also need some snacks to.

And were can i find tofu??? I LOVE tofu when i had it last year while I was camping. Where are some good places like Wal-Mart or somthing that I can find good veg. foods without having to go to a special store.

I dont feel guilty about animals dying becuse I know it happens and it the circle of life but I want to improve my lifestyle without having the feeling that the prossesing and the junk that have made animals dissapear scence the 1800 when people ate animals, but there where more.

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

  1. www.meat.org  <===It's not the circle of life!  Have a heart.  Also learn to spell...My 7-year-old son can spell better than that AND he has a heart :)

  2. There is no rule that says you have to give up meat, although you will get purists telling you you're only a vegetarian if you eat no meat at all.

One big thing you need to make sure of is that you get enough protein. You should be able to find tofu in your local grocery store. Ask the produce manager to point it out to you. Nuts and beans are other good sources. I eat a lot of granola bars. Try the Kashi brand of cereals and granola bars.

You really don't need to go to a special store, you just need to eat a lot of fresh fruits and veggies.

Here is a good example of a vegetarian day:

Breakfast-toasted whole wheat bread with peanut butter and banana slices, and a glass of ice cold soy milk

    Snack- Kashi granola bar

Lunch- Salad of greens, a can of beans, tomatoes, and other veggies you like.

    Snack- apple, handful of almonds

Dinner-tofu and veggie stir fry with brown rice (sliced carrots, broccoli, bell peppers, etc)

Dessert- pudding made with soy milk, with strawberry slices

a bowl of cereal with soymilk makes a nice bedtime snack.

    Good luck!

  3. Don't be afraid to go vegan.

  4. I think this is what your asking for so here are some web sites with some great vegan/vegetarian food.

    http://fruitabu.com

    http://clifbar.com

    Here are some good recipes:

Stir fry- You need cut up tofu, soy sauce, olive oil, steamed veggies, and cooked rice

Get a frying pan and coat it with olive oil. The put the tofu in the pan and brown each side of it. Next, add the veggies. Add a little soy sauce and put in the rice. Mix everything up and then let it sit on the stove, occasionally stirring it to make sure it doesn't burn. After about a minute and a half of that put it in a bowl and enjoy!

Hummus- chick peas, lemon juice, paprika, cumin, black pepper, and any other spices/seasonings you like

Puree the chick peas. Then add a little lemon juice, paprika, pepper, and other spices. Then stir. Serve with a pita, with cucumbers, or on a veggie wrap.

Here are some snack and dinner suggestions:

    Snacks:

    Celery with peanut butter

    Apples with peanut butter

    Pita with hummus

    Raisins

    Amy's Apple Toaster Pops

    All natural popsicles

    Natural Valley bars

Whole foods is a great store for vegetarians/vegans, so I recommend grocery shopping there. You also can get a lot of the things I listed above there. You can probably get tofu at Wal-Mart or your local grocery store.
