Very Slow Lan Transfers?

I am currently try to transfer over 20 GB data to my other PC in a Direct Ethernet connection between both computers ( No Router ) , Basically have a main pc it has dual ethernet ports and i have a Wireless PCI-E Card i using my main computer as a gateway and let my other machine connect via Ethernet to have internet access on bothj macines ...Anyways im trying to transfer data but its REALLY slow im only transfering 1 gb at a time and its saying 30 minutes what could be causing the slow transfers between the ethernet ?

If it's Microsoft, well, Microsoft networking is very slow.  Or, you can also check the speed/duplex settings of your NICs, maybe one didn't negotiate right and you have mismatch.  This cause lots of collisions and retransmitting of data.

try a "netstat -s" command from command line and look for IPv4 errors.
