Very VERY pressing Scooter Blenny Question!?

Okay, so I was at PETCO today(which I usually only go to for fish food) and I saw a cute little fish labeled 'Scooter Blenny' and I checked the little care summery they give for each fish- it gave basically the same care parameters as a lawnmower blenny(one of which I also have).

I really wanted him, but was apprehensive about adding him in with my other blenny. I asked around the associates that were there, and they all said they should be fine together since I have a 55 gallon tank- room for both to be able to avoid the other. And really- my mower has thus far totally ignored the scooter- even when the scooter was right outside of the live rock my mower has claimed as 'his.'

That's not really my problem... my problem arose after I acclimated the scooter and started to do a little research, some tips to care for him better- oh boy was I in for a lesson! So not only is my 'blenny' really a dragonet, but it needs massive amounts of live rock to live?!?! I only have 3lb of it- most of the rock in my tank is not 'alive.' Not even close to being alive.

My PETCO has a strict 'no return' policy on saltwater purchases, so I'm pretty much stuck with him.

Is there anyway to supplement his diet while I slowly add more live rock?

Try offering live foods such as brine shrimp and 'pods.

The Scooter Blenny or Ocellated Dragonet eats small crustaceans and other small marine organisms. They will sift through the sand looking for food and the small pointed shape of their mouth is ideal for catching microfauna. Live brine is ideal for the aquarium, very small particles of meaty foods can also be offered.
