so i have a new camera and i just filmed a movie with a bunch of friends for school. i recorded it on a dvd-r. then when i go to plug the camera into the computer it only shows a single clip on it called "Track1.cda". so i go to google and i see that that file type is an audio file type. and when i play it it doesn't play anything. then i go and research more on the dvd-r part of it and it tells me to finalize it. so i go into the camera and find that option in the video recorder. so i do that and it still shows the same file. but when i go into the camera i still see the video and they all work. so i know its not a "coaster" as they called it in an article i read. i just cant get them into the computer. any help would be much appreciated because I'm sure that my friends wont want to shoot the video again.

  1. You need to rip your movie before trying to play it on your PC.  PCs will not play files with a CDA extension automatically.  Try searching "free rippers" on the search engines, and nab one according to your needs.

Another good option is something like DVD Decrypter.  I am pretty sure this is the program I used a year or two ago with a video from my cell that ended up saving as a CDA extension as well.

    Hope this helps! GL!

  2. You don't need to connect your camcorder to your PC - just finalise the disk in the camcorder, load it on your PC and rip it with DVDDecrypter.
