Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has promised the fans that the team will bounce back from the 0-1 defeat against Wigan Athletic when they travel to Manchester City next weekend.
Tottenham went into the game having won five of their previous six Premier League games, but put on a horrific home display against a struggling Wigan side. The Latics had been on a poor winless run, and had only won their last home game against West Ham
before they travelled to White Hart Lane.
The home fans were disgruntled after the final whistle, and voiced their resentment by booing the team off the pitch. Villas-Boas was a grim figure, having seen his team booed off by the home support on three occasions now.

The team had previously been subject to the discontentment of the fans after Spurs drew their home games against West Brom and Norwich City when the Premier League started back in August.
The home side were lucky not to have conceded any more goals, and struggled throughout the 90 minutes to impose themselves on the visitors. Wigan goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi was a mere spectator as Tottenham failed to attack convincingly.
The North London club now face a challenging task this week as they prepare for the trip to current English champions Manchester City, and Villas-Boas has promised the Spurs fans that the team will bounce back to winning ways. Speaking to reporters, he said:
“Our performances in those games will not be like this one, definitely. What we need to do is recover from this defeat. Emotionally for us it is very important to bounce back and we have the type of games that can have that impact.”
“They are games against the top teams at their ground. These are teams with the same objective as us. We will bounce back.”
Tottenham had looked a shadow of the team that dominated Southampton and defeated Manchester United at Old Trafford towards the end of September.
The weekend’s trip to the Eastlands presents a crucial challenge and opportunity for Villas-Boas to recover his team’s winning form.
