Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has played down transfer speculation linking the club with highly rated http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international Yann M’Vila and Porto’s midfield maestro Joao Moutinho.
Both players are two of the most widely sought after talents in Europe and both were linked to a number of major European clubs this summer. The Euro 2012 tournament back in June was responsible for bringing a number of players to prominence, with M’Vila
and Moutinho among those who shone for their national teams.
M’Vila had long been an Arsenal target, but recently the Gunners cooled their interest in the midfielder, with many reports claiming that Arsene Wenger was not impressed by the player’s off the pitch behaviour and attitude. It is understood that M’Vila had
a bust up with France head coach Laurent Blanc back at the Euros and Wenger was not keen on the player anymore as a result of that incident.
Spurs were then reportedly looking to make a move for the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 target by lining up a bid for his services this week. However, nothing concrete happened and Villas-Boas yesterday effectively ruled out the possibility of the Frenchman coming to White
Hart Lane this summer.
The Portuguese manager also said that signing Joao Moutinho from Porto this summer will be ‘very difficult’. It is understood that Moutinho is considered the ideal replacement for want away midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857, who is set to leave the club this week.
Villas-Boas is a huge admirer of Moutinho and rates him highly. He is currently in the market for a more creative player; hence, the possibility of Moutinho coming to White Hart Lane is still there.
Speaking to the press about M’Vila, he said:
"[M'Vila] is an interesting player, but I don't think he will join Tottenham.”
"The player is a player of defensive characteristics. We had initial interest in M'Vila but we have moved on from that one and are now looking for a more creative player."
However, the manager did not rule out Moutinho completely, and added:
"It will be very difficult to sign him. I have experience of Porto and it is a club that sells good products but they are expensive.”
"It has been like that with numerous amounts of players and that is why it is very difficult.”
