I am trying to assist my friend in coming to the united states with me in Decemeber. He is a Bosnian resident and I am American. We are working in Iraq and do not have an embassy that handles non-immigrant, visitors visas here. I am trying to find out how we can process his application so he may spend vacation with me.

He has had a visa before to visit "guns point" Houston but there are many nicer places to visit and would like to show him washington state for two weeks. He would be with me the entire time and it would be for 14 days only.

i am not sure how to proceed and I would be taking care of the visa application fees.

any help would be fantastic!!!!!!!!

  1. go on their web page anyway and file by electronic way, they will advice you on how to proceed correctly to obtain a non immigration visa .

    http://iraq.usembassy.gov/iraq/evaf.html

if not ? try contacting them at this mail :

    Email: usconsulbaghdad@state.gov

ok: i will be back with info in a minute.

ok; it says that you have to contact the US embassy in Jordan:

For more information on application requirements for these types of visas, please see the left navigation links for the type of visa you need (A, G, or J, or B1/B2). For all other types (business and tourism, medical treatment, family emergencies, etc.), # please see the Web site for the U.S. Embassy in Amman, Jordan,#  or at any other Embassy or Consulate in the world.

    PS:

but you will have to, they will not give you a visa without any sort of physical presence,

there will be an interview and you have to attend !otherwise , no visa .............

  2. George knows what he's talking about.  There are no alternatives except for your friend to go somewhere where he can apply in person.  If he got his previous visa in his own country, then he can and probably should go back there to apply.

Your friend cannot apply for a US visa "electronically."  He will have to take time off from work in order to apply; that is simply something you two will have to plan for and figure out.

  3. The US embassy in Baghdad definintely does not process tourist visas. Wouldn't be safe for them, wouldn't be safe for you either. So, as noted in the immigration section, you need to apply in another country. Which one is up to you, but obviously depends on which country/ies you can get to from there. If you can figure out where you would like to apply, check out the embassy websites at travel.state.gov and look at the consular sections to find out how to actually apply as it does vary from place to place. Be sure to check out visa wait times as well on the same site as some places have significant waiting periods to get an appointment.

  4. Have you tried this website:

    http://www.unitedstatesvisas.gov/

I assume your friend has a Bosnian passport?
