This really weird! I just had a tech build a Athlon dual core 6000, Got 1gb of ram, so am using one channel. I installed the home basic upgrade over XP Home, and now the start menu does not open when I click on the circle. Instead it opens a window asking me if I want to change my account settings. Is this a bug? What can I do?

Have a great week folks!

  1. This is not a Bug though it could be some issue with the software.

Make sure to turn off the inbuilt video adapter and see if it works then, otherwise make sure to try the functionality in the safe mode, if it works in the safe mode be sure that it is because of the video adapter, or few conflicting application services.

But I would like suggest a fresh installation on Vista on the computer, as upgrading the computer may cost you in the future, when you invest in the applications and they do not work. Make sure to purchase a retail copy of nothing less than a "Vista Home Premium".

  2. First upgrading XP to Vista is a bad idea. You should save anything you need and reformat the hard drive and make a freash install of Vista. XP and Vista get along like 2 ugly step children

  3. To install Vista is a bad idea, if you need Windows, stay with XP or install Linux.
