  1. Here's what works for me...

Spread the fingers on your hands out, then you touch the fore fingers from both hands, and the thumbs from both hands together - so that the area between your fore fingers and thumbs makes roughly a triangle shape  (well, roughly triangle or diamond). When you contact the ball, your hand should be above your forehead, so that if you miss the ball, it hits you in the head.

When you contact the ball, your finger pads should touch the ball, kind of encircling it, but it shouldn't touch your palms.

When you push the ball out, the motion should come primarily from your wrists - so that the wrists kind of flip "out".

One way to practice setting is to lay on your bed on your back - and practice setting the ball up towards the ceiling. The goal is to get it as close to the ceiling as possible, without actually touching the ceiling.

You can also practice setting the ball to the wall - aiming for particular spots on the wall - to work on your accuracy.

I put some links to information on setting, drills, tips, things like that.

    Good luck to you!

  2. you bump the ball up ,nice and pretty style ,so the another team mate can spike it, roll it,or bump it over the net.

  3. take the ball and put your hands on it around the seems it should make an "L" shape.  Have a friend take the ball out of your hands but don't move them out of the position.  Next you should have your friend throw the ball into the air higher than your head. when the ball comes down to about where your hands are.  Than all you have to do is "push" the ball with your fingertips dont use your palms the ref will call you on it.  Than once you get it down just keep practicing! GOOD LUCK!

  4. Get a volleyball and a wall.   Practice overhead passing the ball against the wall, trying to keep it going as long as possible without  touching the floor.   Do this a lot!  After you feel comfortable with this drill, ask one of the coaches or someone else who knows volleyball to evaluate your  technique.   Then you have to go back to the wall.  Setting takes a lot of practice.  Every player should be able to put a set in an emergency, so stick with it.

  5. Keep your fingers straight. and some peole use their thumbs and a triangular thing with their hands but i only use my fingers....the best thing I can say for advice is keep the finger straight and ferm and use both hands evenly. Good luck!

  6. act as if you were drinking water from a jug. your palms point up and they are positioned over your head and you set the ball with your finger tips

  7. make a triangle with your hands, get your hips square behind the ball and use your fingertips to push it up towards the person your setting to

  8. i am setter for my vball team and i no i've been having difficulties on this...... its not that i'm doing it wrong, its that i'm not doing it fast enough. the ball should barely touch your finger tips. first lets go back to the basics.

*3 fingers- you want to use ur pointer finger, ur middle finger and your thumb to set

*movement- when you set the ball with your 3 fingers, you want to spring up and kidn of push your hands out. you can also step into the ball, this is usally more effective but wateva your coach wants you to do.

*knowing how low- if the ball is below your waist just bump it... just because your setter doesn't mean you have to set it all the time, but most of the time

*how fast/carrying- when you set the ball it should be an explosive action, you should touch the ball no longer than it takes to say mi- out of mine. it should also only touch your finger tips, if you hold it long or it touches your finger or palm, then its a carry

*where to set- you want to make a triangle with your 3 fingers you should have about 2 fingers space in between the top of your triangle (pointer/middle) fingers. same between your thumbs, then you want to put it at your forehead and move it so that it is about 5-6 inches diagonally above your head

*placement- wherever your feet arepointed to that where the ball is going to go so make sure your squared to where you want it to go

make sure you do all these things and practice until it becomes natural feeling. good luck

  9. You kno those liter bottles of soda they have at the store? well, you want to pretend like you're dumping all the soda onto you're head. the shape of the bottle in you're hands is the shape you want in ur set...it helps...

  10. have your body facing the way that the ball is going to travle as the ball approches in the air you shoul have your two thumbs touching and 2 index fingers touching as the ball comes in to your hands bend your knees slightly and arms and push upwards with both using fingertips all you should hear is a light tap when you contact and careful not to hold the ball too long! happy playing

  11. Don't put your hands right next to them so their touching but keep a good distance and push it in the air but not too close to the net or else they can't spike it. I am my teams setter so it might hurt your fingers at first but you'll get used to it

  12. Palms up make a diamond with hands and more or less when it comes just push it in the air!
