so here's the problem: i'm a freshman this year and i tried out for the volleyball team. i already had a year of club volleyball under my belt so i felt ready for tryouts. i did my best at the tryouts and i was pretty sure i'd make the freshman team. well today i found out i didn't. basically only tall girls (even if they weren't that great) and outstanding normal sized girls made the team. all the short girls like me (im like 5"2 or somthing), even who had good skills and the girls who were playing for the first time were placed on a different team. after practice today i asked the coach why i was placed on the beginner's team. she said that she didnt feel like i listened to her, that i needed to practice skills other than passing (my specialty), and i needed to become a leader on the beginners team to prove that i deserved to be on the better team. at least she said i had potential. well, its going to be easy improving whatever i am "lacking" with my older sister and "fix" my listening skills (i actually am a good listener...im the one usually being vented to).so now, my question, does anybody have any good advice as to how to become this leader captain person? ive never been one before, i know it cant be that hard, but any advice would be great. thanks in advance.
