  2. A former vendor is someone from whom a company used to make purchases, but is not currently doing so.

    Say you are running a Starbucks. You might buy newspapers from a local newstand, then sell them or give them away to customers. The newstand would be a vendor. If you moved from the newstand to buying the papers directly from the publisher, the newstand would now be a former vendor.
