Okay so i play rep soccer. Where i live it means like you represent the city you live depending on age level. So im 14 and play Rep 2 soccer. Which means we are the second best team out of our whole city. So my team has had a pretty big comeback and we're to games away (if we win both) from winning the league. We play two hard teams next.

Now the Rep 1 team, which is waaay better than us, and has traveled around the world, has asked a couple of the players from our team, including me, to come to a few pratcices. So we've gone to a couple pratices and sat on the bench for a couple games, having a few minutes play time.

So i play Keeper and the Rep 1 goalie is insane. He's trained in Europe and South America and hes incredible. So i respect him a lot. So in practice he got his thumb kicked in and he might not be able to play in their next game! So they'll have to use me. Thing is, their game is on the same night, same time, as my teams really important game.

I want to stay loyal to my team and i am willing to give up that option hands down. But their coach is a important member of the soccer league and can basically order me to play in there game and call the goalie up from Rep 3 to play my game.

What should i do??

  1. i'd say definitely take the opportunity to play rep 1. you may not get a chance like this ever again, or at least any time soon. i'm sure all your rep. 2 teammates will understand. they would all jump at this opportunity too. good luck! it sounds like no matter what decision you make, you're still a good soccer player

  2. im all for loyalty over the glamour aspect. Not that its about glamour and all. If you make a commitment to a club at the beginning of the season, you should stick by it. In doing so, you gain credibility and respect. I know the rep 1 coach may think, what the h**l, dont care about him, but if you that good, youll get snapped up by someone else. At the end of the day, youve been working with your rep 2 team all season long and youve got to where you are through a team effort. Never compromise your loyalties and commitments for a shot at something that is not guranteed.

  3. forget the coach do what is right for you

  4. I think the experience you could gain far outweighs your feelings of loyalty. If you're 14, you're entering high school and have to start thinking about college. Experience on a better team could not only look good on paper, but improve your skills by playing against better players. Yes, it may look good to colleges that you remained loyal, but without the experience at a higher level, they will be less likely to recruit you. You may lose some respect from the Rep 2 team, but I'm sure you will meet some really great friends on Rep 1. Just think, would your other Rep 2 teammates be as loyal as you are thinking about being? Would they even give it this much thought?
