I am a begginer.

I am looking at quality not price.

I have an old Canon AE1 with 4 other lenses.

I know Canon has a better name but I like Sony for the design and the features.

I need help deciding!

overall i like the sony better.. but I will need more lenses throught time so i dont know if it would be worth it to get the sony or stay with the Canon. =/

Thanks for your time!

  1. Take a good look at NIKON D30, D40, D50, D60, D70 D80

if you have money the D300 in my books is the best

been saving my pennies hope to get one by the end of the year with a 16-85mm and the 70-300mm lenses

  2. Unfortunately, your Canon lenses will not mount to the current Canon DSLR cameras since the AE-1 used the venerable FD lens mount and Canon changed their lens mount to the EOS type when they introduced the EOS AF Rebel. Current Canon DSLRs still use the EOS mount.

Sony currently lists 26 branded lenses, has released a Carl Zeiss T* line of lenses and every legacy Minolta Maxxum AF lens made since 1985 can be used. Since Sony has their version of Image Stabilization (IS) -Super Steady Shot - in the camera body, every lens you use will have that benefit.

Check out the Sony A200 and A300 and decide which one best meets your needs.

IMO you should keep the AE-1 and lenses.
