can someone explain me the nature of this file?

  1. Every time you open, say an office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc) file, it creates a tmp file. When you close office, it should close the tmp file. If office isn't closed down cleanly then it leaves a tmp file lying around. These are just temporary files thast can be ignored, or preferably deleted to clear up space on the hard disk. It's nothing to worry about.

    In other cases, if you have installed a program from somewhere, it sometimes creates tmp files, again these can be ignored/deleted.
