Wakesurfing?

i've tried it before and its really fun. its gaining popularity and i know some of the bigger brands (LF etc.) are making wakesurf boards. any of you out there avid wakesurfers?

Yeah I tried wakesurfing, but really I think wakeboarding is better.  The fact is, surfboards are made for surfing, and they do not maneuver nearly as well as a wakeboard.  The narrow tail and tapered design makes it bog a lot in the back.  The big fins (used primarily to generate speed in normal surfing) make it slow to maneuver when you already have the boat generating your speed.

That said, wakesurfing (or "powersurfing") helped me dial a few turns, and it was definately fun to cutback hard and go for an air on the wake.  I just feel like everything is better on a wakeboard.

Wakesurfing is fun.  We typically wakeboard several sessions, then once everyone on the boat have exhausted themselves wakeboarding or wakeskating, we break out the wakesurfing.  If the water is blown out, we might wakesurf more.  Lots of companies are not manufacturing wakesurf boards, wake enhancement products, and the industry is now holding wakesurfing contests so you are correct that the sport is really coming into its own.

We used to do it ages ago alot behind my friends boat as there was a good surf spot on an island near by. so we used to tow one of our old boards on the way there and have turns.

Wasn't a king at it - but did it a fair bit.

I've done it before. It's really fun.  I usually wakeboard, though.  And I do innertubing alot.  We don't go fast, we just go off our own wake.  It's really fun, I went yesterday with a few people.  We got at least 4 or 5 feet of air a couple times.  (and landed it).

i have been wakesurfin since this summer. i absolutely love it.  i got a hyperlite broadcast board which is totally sick.  i like it because anyone can use it, and theres no need to size it up.  anyone in my family or any of my friends can just hop on at any time.
