Wal-mart Meal Exception?

Question

I was told tonight at work (Wal-mart) that I was at risk for being a meal exception and was asked to "hurry up" and punch out before that happened. What exactly is a meal exception at Wal-mart? I am a cashier and I clocked in at 11:11am, I took my lunch from 3:33-4:11 and I clocked out at 9:06pm. Am I at risk for being a meal exception. Thank you for your help!

okay to put it simply ,by walmart as well as federal law,you must clock out for lunch by at least 6 hrs.if not it becomes an exception,and basically the store manager has to explain to the home office why they didnt let you clock out for lunch on time.by the way since you are a cashier,the register gives you a warning about a 1/2 hr before your 6hrs,warning you that you are soon to be locked out of the register...at 6 hrs you are locked out and have no choice but to go to lunch.which if anybody has ever wondered why cashiers are leaving the registers while there are lots of lines...this is why.

if you go 5-6 hours,depending what state you are in, without taking a break it violates the meal exception law.  By law you have to take a break.  The Company would be in violation if they let you work without one.

I worked at Wal-mart for over 3 years.  If you work 6 hours, you are entitled to a 15 min. break.  61/2 hours and you also get a 30 min. lunch.  Anything over 71/2 hours and you are entitled to a one hour lunch, and two 15 minute breaks.  It sounds like you are getting robbed of your proper break times.  Something Wal-Mart has been sued over in the past.  My Wal-Mart always made sure we had our proper breaks.
