Question:

Walk-in guests?

How would a hotel handle a walk-in guest that they could not accommodate for the night, as well as a non-guaranteed reservation that arrives after the "cut off" time (eg 8 o clock)?

I kind of know but I do need some help if there's anything I have not covered.

THANK YOU

  1. When I used to work in a hotel we used to deal with the walk-in guests we couldn't accommodate by ringing around other hotels in the area and/or pointing them in the direction of other hotels.

As for the guest who arrives after the cut-off time....I would've done my best to contact them but if someone else comes in for a room I would've let it out but if no one else wants it I would let the late guest have it (it's making money after all)!

  2. It has happened to me and they simply apologise and say there is nothing they can do.

  3. Send them to a hotel up the road.

  4. Tell them that they are sorry but they have no rooms.

  5. make them sleep in the stable
