Walmart question....?

Is it true that the first Walmarts did not even have automatic doors and were located in strip centers? I have even heard that they did not have McDonald's in them.

Many WMs still don't have McDonald's in them. I don't know if they started in strip centers or not - some are for sure.

Ha ha!  Yes, it's all true.  The founder of Wal Mart had very humble beginnings.  I remember the first time I saw a McDonalds in a Wal Mart, and I'm not THAT ancient.  :-)

well, a store has to be something small before it expands.  like how mcdonalds started.  they made more money and had a demand and so they grew into great power

True. The first Walmarts were discount stores like today's Dollar General or Family Dollar stores. The addition of McDonald's came much later, with the introduction of "super stores".

I visited store #1 in Rogersville, Arkansas in the late 80's when they were experimenting with black and white LCD displays on shopping carts. Specials in near-by isles were advertised on the screen, or you could play video games. Many of these specially equipped shopping carts were grabbed by 13-15 yr. old boys, who watched the screen but didn't watch where they were going, and ended up in gridlock in the front of the store. So far as I know, the idea was not used elsewhere.

Yeah, it is true. There is still an old one about twenty miles away it has everything you described , plus it doesn't even have a food department. It's kinda like k-mart.

nothing about your question is true about Wal-Mart.  Walmarts are built to code and often have McDonalds or Subways in addition to the junk food they offer.
