wanna sell me dog due to housin issues.

she is a golden labrodor at 11 months well trained and house trained.

i got her for 500 she is a pure pedigree lab

how much do you think i should sell her for?

its best just to give her away its not her fault you have houseing problems  so you shouldnt really make a profit or make money over a living thing i think its cruel i understant its not your fault but it would be best to give her to some one she knows and you trust then you know she wont be used for breeding purposes only then when you are sorted you can get her back xxxx hope that doesnt sound harsh hunni xx

Assuming you got her from a reputable breeder you most likely have a contract saying she has to be returned to the breeder if you ever can't keep her.

I would sell her from 400 to 600 dollars. My friend is studying to be a vet and her aunt is one. I am also studying to be a vet. Just see who takes her for the most money and sell her to them. Hope that helps:)

Get in touch with the breeder you bought her from.  Explain the situation.  They will probably have a list of folk who are looking for a pup, or even an older dog.  They will also be able to tell you the best price to ask.

Answerer's, please stop referring to this poor unloved dog at a pet. This person is not concerned about  parting with her dog. The only concern is the cash. ASKER you should have sorted out your housing problems before you got a dog. You are obviously in rented accommodation and landlords often object to dogs. You don't love her, perhaps you can advertise for someone who does. Dogs are dumped because people like you buy them on a whim. This is a living creature who will suffer, shame on you that cash is your only issue.

Don't sell her give her to a rescue to re-home, this way you know they will home check where she is going to go and not end up as a breeding machine in a puppy farm or somewhere that isn't suitable for her.

Sorry about your problems but don't just think of the money, look at the rescue sites on internet and you will see there are loads of labs there already only costing £150 in England from the rescue so you won't get more than this selling her yourself.

I wouldn't sell her because you don't know where she will end up. I suggest you contact a reputable rescue, or the dog's breeder, and ask them to take her off your hands and find her a good home. What a terrible situation to be in. I know what it is to be short of money but I could never sell a friend (which is what your dog is). Try to do the best thing for her and have someone experienced in sussing out home situations find her a good home while you have the chance.

The shelters are full of Labradors, both registered and unregistered and most are put down because they don't get adopted.

If you bought this dog from a REPUTABLE breeder, which means not from someones house you went to, then you need to contact the breeder.  Any reputable breeder will take the dog back.

Contact a rescue group to take her in, that is the best possible scenario.  She will be put into a foster home and made ready for her next forever home.  If you still plan to sell her, I would ask for references both personal & vet, do a home visit to see what type of enviornment she will be living in.

In todays world if you don't know anything about the home your dog is going to, she could end up as bait for fighting dogs or in some Lab as a testing dog.  I would also have her spayed before moving her out so she doesn't end up as a puppy mill dog for a backyard breeder.

Be responsible and find her a loving, responsible home with people thatn know Labs.  That is more important than the money.

Firstly I hope you have thought this through very carefully as you have to remember it can be very upsetting for the dog, not just yourself.

If you are going to sell her with papers, vaccinations, wormed, house trained and obediance trained then I would sell her for around £400. No more, as you are not the breeder. Take a look at other adverts similar to yours and see how much they cost.

But I personally don't think it's all about the money. If the person who offers you the highest price is out at work for 10 hours a day then surely you can forfeit £20 for a loving home for your dog?

And advertise in pet shops, newspapers and other similar places. I'm not sure if I would sell her on epupz because I know that I personally wouldn't buy a dog from epupz.

for a young lab i would sell her for 300 with papers if it was a  young puppy then i would sell her for a bit more

If you bought her from a reputable breeder, they will take her back but don't expect to get anything like you paid for her. The resale value on a pet Labrador is minimal - have a look at how many Labs are in rescue.

If you didn't get her from a reputable breeder, the resale value is even less. Why would someone pay full price for a dog with a questionable background with no health tests carried out when they can buy a well bred puppy for the same price?

A loving permanent home is more important than how much you can sell her for - which should be a purely nominal price £50 - £100.

Charging the new owner is a good thing to do because people tend to take more care of things they pay for.  But I would say its more important to make sure she goes to the right home not the highest bidder

As someone has said already if she's from a reputable breeder the breeder will want first choice on what happens to her.

Show quality?

Tested parents?

If she's not show quality or her parents weren't tested or if she's not KC registered then I'd sell her at around £200. Is she spayed? I'd deduct the price of a spay (around £120) or even get her spayed before she goes to a new home to avoid people wanting to buy an intact dog for breeding.

The price has got to be high enough as to not attract bad dog owners that are just out for a cheap dog but not so high as money should be secondary to a very good home :]
