I want to plan a cruise for this summer but I have never done it before. Does anyone have any tips on getting a good deal and a great vacation?

sarah i don''t know where r u from.I m from India n had a ball on star cruise.We sailed from Singapore n visited all the islands .For a nice vacation on a cruise,look for a nice company n book  ur cruise well in advance so that u can avail good  discount.Let urself  free n just chill.

Cruising is the best vacation for the money.  I have been 11 times and I am going again in August.  The best deals are found with a little planning and research.

1. decide on the date and ship you want to travel

2. log on to cruisecompete.com

3. request a quote for your date and ship

4. the lowest price will usually be from Cruise-N-More

5. Have a great time

NEVER buy shore excursions from the cruise company, you can buy the same ones on shore for half the price

Book your cruise at least three months in advance.  For first time cruising I'd go with maybe 3-5 days.  Try Carnival Cruise lines or Royal Caribbean Cruise lines.  Carnival is more family oriented but both Carnival and Royal Caribbean are great to travel on.

Best to use a good unbiased travel agent.  There are so many choices it's best to get a agent help you find what's important to you on your vacation.

A good agent can meet or beat any internet deal and give you extra security in knowing that you will actually get the deal you are trying to make.  There is a lot of scams going around, so watch out.

My choice in the summer would be Alaska, do the longer cruise from Vancouver to Anchorage for the most variety.  Princess is teriffic, but if you are young and like a real active ship then try Carnival.

I went to my local travel agent. She called when she got a deal, we booked and got to make payments, and all the port taxes were included. Just don't forget your passport.

Great Vacation in the summer would be Alaska, Mexico Riveria, or Europe.  Stay away from the Caribbean, the summer brings hurricanes!!!
