Warcraft III help PLZ?

Are the Warcraft games online as well, I know World of warcraft is but is Warcraft III online?

Also how well does Warcarft III compare to World of warcraft

All the warcraft games have online play. However Warcraft III is an real-time strategy game like Age of Empires or Starcraft and has an actual storyline to the game. WoW is an MMORPG game like runescape.
