Was Casey Blake a good pickup?

the Dodgers gave up an under achieving reliever Jon Meloan and Carlos Santana (their Class A catcher not the guitarist) for him. was it a good pick up for them yay or nay?

The obvious answer is "only time will tell", but right now it looks like Colletti made a good deal. If he can come in a be a good situational hitter and drive in some runners, it will be a lot better than what he have right now. He doesn't even need to put up stellar numbers, anything above average and he will seem like a god in LA, lol. I hope this addition will wake up the offense and get it going. I am also glad they didnt have to give up any our major league ready players.

dodgers got a good deal on that one. he's exepected to play a solid 3rd base which the dodgers needed all season long. he bats just shy of .300 and with 11 HR, he was one of the Indians most needed batters in the clutch. with runners in scoring position he bats just under .400. he is very reliable, experinced and versitile. he's in it to win it. so basically, yes, great pick up for the dodge.

Hopefully he can give us a little offense on the hot corner. It's been a revolving door over there since Cey. Thought Beltre would be there for awhile. Right now I like the defense of Blake DeWitt, but he's got no stick. LaRoche? Who knows...

It didn't cost much and the Indians are picking up his salary for the remainder of the 08 season. So, overall, Blake at third is a good fit. I'll be at tonight's game, probably won't see him in the line up until tomorrow.

as an Indians fan, I think it was good for both teams. I heard Shapiro is going to try to get him back in the offseason. The Indians needed to play Marte at third to see if he is contender or pretender so the trading of Blake made sense. Casey is a good guy and a team player.
