Question:

Was I rude at work today?

I work at a place where we work in shifts. When my shift gets over, the next person comes in..and so on.

There's this girl at work who I dislike and I didn't want to talk to her at all, so when she came in I said hi, and then in just 2 min. I packed up my things, said "see ya!" and left without saying anything else to her. Is that rude?

  1. Well, for some people they tend to easily judge a person based on hearsay that she is like this, she is like that and so on and so forth. My question is did she in any occasion tried to offend you or snob you? If the answer is YES then being civil is enough a little "hi" and "see ya". But the norms is we are warm people we tend to be homey with peers and considering she is a co-employee and at some point you need to talk about matters regarding turn-over of work after shifts. Your asking about rudeness? Yes there is an air. Be nice that wont hurt you.

  2. no...you said hi and bye..that's sufficient :)

  3. Whilst it is not rude I could not have done that not would I have liked someone doing that to me unless we have got so much up one an-others noses that it is safer not  to talk

  4. in a way it is rude but in another way have you been rude to her before at all. mabye if that is true she might just be giving back to you what you did to her. but if not then yes you are right but mabye just ask here why and see wat she says then its up to you but try not to be to mean about it but dont be to week ok

  5. This is a work enviroment and a quiet politeness is classy and it doesn't mean you have to pal around.  Bosses notice small things like behavior in the work place.  A pleasant smile and a wish of good morning and good evening is good enough without being rude.  I do help employ people and my input is important.  I am likely to promote a pleasant employee over a rude one.  It sounds like this girl just wants to be professional and you need to be the same.

  6. If you don't like her why say any thing at all?

  7. Its all in how you said it. just from reading it though I don't think it was.

  8. No.  I think considering you do not like her she was lucky to get the greeting she got.

  9. no, I probably wouldn't even of said hi.

Now if you said, "see ya, b*tch!". That would have been rude.

  10. No -- that's okay.

  11. nope!  it's nice of you to say hi and by!!  and you should at the very least do that!

other then that ifyour tone was well bad then it's just as bad as calling someone a name!

  12. Very slightly

  13. I wouldn't have said anything, you were being nice!   :)

  14. Be nice (very) when saying hi next time... but also leave as quickly as you want to... after all, you're shift is over and you have a life.
