Was it just me or was Darrell Waltrip showing way too much favoristism towards Kyle Busch?

I mean at one point in the race, he blatantly said he was a fan of K.B. and just kept rambling on about how he was so good and how he can just weave around cars to get where he needs to be. He even started calling him "Ol' Yeller", I don't have problems with D.W. I mean i like him as a commentator is just wish they could be as unbiased as possible. Does anyone else agree?

Dw is a Toyota fan now, so that is what we are stuck with, I'm getting sick of him already, DW he will never be unbiased, he thinks he is immune to that, but he does need some Toyota Pom Poms as he is their biggest cheer leader right now...

He was the same way on Sirius this past week It is mainly because he sees Kyle as a young version of himself.

The "color commentators" of the broadcast have never been purported to be UNBIASED REPORTERS of the race.  That is why they are "commentators" and not "reporters."  h**l... news "reporters" can be biased, too!

If he was showing favoritism towards his lil'bro Michael, you'd probably be scuffing the ground and going, "Aw shucks, ain't that cute!  He loves his brother!"

I have listened to baseball games being broadcast by each team's "broadcasters"... the SAME game, but the broadcasters were from the different teams.  You would have thought you were listening to two different games... the broadcasters were so biased towards their "own" team and against the opposing team.

Look... this is CAR RACING... not the world news!  It just does not NEED to "live up" to the standards of unbiased reporting that the NEWS ***OUGHT*** to be living up to (but doesn't!).

Do you think I like it whenever they make comments "favorable" to drivers that I do NOT like?  But everything is just fine and dandy when they make comments favorable towards drivers I LIKE?  Who's the biased one then?

who ever said that DW or any other "commentator" was supposed to be objective?   by definition, a "commentator" is one who comments - in this case on whatever he finds interesting.  DW and the others are not journalists, supposedly held to some measure of objectivity.  they provide "color commentary" for the race, and of course they are going to talk about the most colorful characters.

and DW knows racing far more than you and i ever will - he's been there, done that.  he's earned the right to his opinions, as if he ever needed to.  to assume he's not human and doesn't have favorites or opinions is ludicrous.

DW adds color and experience to the commentary, and just because you don't happen to agree with it, well, that's your opinion.  as "thebestanswer" stated above, DW also predicted that the move to DEI was the best thing that could have happened to junior, and that he'd win six races this year.  i haven't heard him say squat about half the drivers down there - that's not his job.  his job is to comment on the drivers that are the movers and the shakers - junior, rowdy, and anybody else he so desires.

I know what u mean, he does that allot, who ever that BIG favorite is at the time is who he is pulling 4 then doesn't shut up about it. He is the John Madden of NASCAR but more likable

DW pulls for Kyle, and is a fan, but when Jr.'s running good, he pours on the praise for him, too.

first off you seem like a junior fan so I guess DW isnt biased when he refers to junior as "June Bug" now is he? look DW is a former driver and picks his spots yes he comes across at times as way too involved but hes a racer at heart and gets excited when one guy is hot I mean he always calls Tony "smoke" Jeff gordon "Big Daddy" and now Kyle is te hot hand so he just rolls with it.. its why we all love Nascar the emotion

yeah he does talk about him alot, i'll admit jr has gotten more coverage than pretty much everyone in the past but now i think him and busch both get more coverage then anyone else. when i heard him say old yeller i wasnt sure who he was talkin about but i noticed kyle busch was on the screen shot which had about 5 ppl on it at the time and i figured he was talkin about him since he does seem a bit obsessed with him.
