Question:

Was that a roach...?

Okay, so I've just moved into a new apartment. Just now I came out of a shower and I saw a bug scuttle out from my closet to beneath my inflatible bed.

It was a dark, dark blue; almost purple or dark green. It had six legs, obviously. It had two attenas that pointed out in a nearly perfect "V" shape.

I'm curious. My apartment is one of ends of the building, so it's probably easy for stuff to come into my place. Also, our town had the biggest flood in our history this year so those kind of bugs are probably in high population.

  1. The only bug matching the color you describe that I know of is a particular type of beetle... harmless and non-infesting.  Perhaps it was a roach and you were merely misjudging the color under the light or something like that.  "Scuttling" is something that sounds roach-like.  You might want to tell us the size.  I take it that you didn't immediately heave the inflatable bed against the wall and attack the creature with a shoe?

  2. Roaches are brown, reddish brown or black. Tell the landlord that you need a visit from an exterminator. I would also set out roach baits just in case.
