Washington Wizards reunite with Alonzo Gee

The Washington Wizards announced on Monday 22 November that they have signed free-agent guard Alonzo Gee, who played with the Wizards last season.

Gee, who was waived by the Spurs last week, played 11 games including two starts for the Wizards last season and averaged 7.4 points and three rebounds per game before bolting out after his
second 10-day contract to join the San Antonio Spurs.

The 23-year-old guard was set to be a full-time starter before deciding to sign with the Spurs. Now that he is a Wizard again, the second-year guard expressed his excitement and he is hoping
that he will have a long stint with Washington this time.

“It's an unbelievable feeling,” said Gee, who only averaged 0.4 points and 0.6 assists in 3.6 minutes per game for the Spurs this season. “I'm glad I had the opportunity to be here and it
helped me out. They boosted my confidence up and I am glad to be back. It's a young team and I feel like we can grow as a group.”

Gee is expected to provide a spark off the bench along with Gilbert Arenas, and the Wizards are ecstatic and they feel that the former Alabama standout will contribute a lot for the team
this season, although he will likely sit out first in their game against the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday 23 November.

The 6ft 6in guard, Gee, reportedly received a non-guaranteed contract that will give the Wizards a choice in January whether they will waive or keep Gee in-contract for the rest of the season.

To make room for Gee in their 15-man roster, the Wizards waived Lester Hudson, who did not see a lot of action for the Wizards this season. Hudson revealed that team president Ernie Grunfeld
informed him about the development before their practice on Monday 22 November.
“They told me I'm a good NBA player, I just need to work on some things,” said Hudson. “Don't hang my head; it's a numbers game, stuff like that. The kind words softened the blow a little
bit, but I always had to work for what I get.”
