how can heat be considered a type of water pollution?

  1. Thermal water pollution is bad because it changes the characteristics of the water.  Some species are very sensitive to change and thus increasing (or decreasing) the water temperature can result in problems for plants, fish, etc.  Think about how it feels when someone flushes the toilet and you are in the shower.

    changes in water temperature enhances harmfull algae,(remember the red tide)

    and kills many fish who are critical to temperature ,when sea water enters lagoons here in Mexico many fish die ,due to sudden temperature changes

    also warm water realeases carbon gasses

    cold water absorbs them

  4. It can kill off cold water fish and other aquatic life forms and cause warm water species to move in.
