Wawa pedal making an odd noise?

I have a wawa pedal for my guitar and all of a sudden, when turned on, it just makes a noise similar to a siren, I'm hoping it could be a low battery noise, but it sounds rather loud and urgent to be that. My brother has used it, could stepping on it too hard or kicking it cause this?

  1. Yes, it could be damaged... a short-circuit inside could cause feedback.

    I'd trouble-shoot it thus:

    1) Swap out the cords for cords you KNOW don't have damage to the shielding or plugs... this will isolate it to the effects pedal.  If good cords don't fix it, it's the pedal.

    2) Replace the batteries.  If this corrects the problem fine.

    3) If new batteries don't fix it, time to repair the pedal or take it into the shop.

    GOOD LUCK.
