We need reception ideas

What is a good way to have our reception flow if we are going to have our photographer for a short time during the reception. We want pictures of our cake cutting and toast. Our reception is going to be very simple. Just a nice dinner and visiting. We aren't sure what to do at our reception to be honest. We will only have about 30 guests.

Hi.  How long is a "short time" for the photographer?

You should book him for about 2 hours.  I don't know if you are having hors d'oeuvres first, then dinner.  But dinner for 30 guests will not take long.  Is this at a restaurant?  You don't say.  Are you letting the guests order off the menu?  Or, is your  reception at another location?  Such as at someone's home, a church hall, a park/picnic area.  In any case, here is what I would do.

Book him/her for about 2 hours....

~ Have the toast(s) FIRST....before dinner.

~ Then dinner.

~ Then cut the cake right after the you and the guest are finished with your dinners.

Done!  This will probably not even take 2 hours....more like 1 hour.
