Wedding Speech Anyone?

I don't want to pay for a wedding speech but, I need a good one. You see I have to come up with one in 5 days cuz I am the maid of honor in my aunt's wedding. Every website I go to they have like best friend toast. Well, I am not the best friend of the bride cuz I am her niece. PLEASE HELP!

Why did she select you to be her maid of honor? I would think that she would select a person that is close to her to have that position. You are her niece - but that doesn't mean you can't be her best friend.

You don't have to say a big speech - usually the best man will speak first and his speech is a little bit longer than the Maid of Honors (at least that is how it's been at most of the weddings I've been to).

Do you have a funny or heartfelt story that you can tell? I would start of with something like that.

You could say something like this:

"For those of you who don't know me my name is (your name) and I'm the niece of (bride's name). When she asked me to be the maid of honor I was so touched that she wanted me to be a part of her big day. I remember when I was growing up she (fill in a heart felt or funny story about your childhood with her). She was always there for me and I am so happy that I could be here for her. (Groom's name) is a very lucky man. I think that they two of them make an absolutely beautiful couple. I wish them many years of happiness, love and joy. Please join me and toast to a great future for this truly blessed couple!"

I wish that I was better at writing speeches - but that was the best I could do. Don't worry - you truly don't have to say much.

hi everybody my names ________, were all here to suport __________on her day. i was very touched that she would pick me as her maid of honor.when we were (kids, younger) we ___________________(tell something funny). as a kid i always looked up to her, and i got to watcher her turn into a very wonderful and special women. i can only hope the very best for her and her new husband ________.  (end with something funny).

make it short and simple don't write a 5 hour speech and don't say things that no one will get. and make it funny. not be all boring and weepy. it should be a good mix of sweet and funny.

say why you were so close to her ( i am assuming you are close to her) and share some childhood moments about how she might have been your "hero" or what makes her special to you.

Good god, do not pay for a speech or pull something generic off of a website.  A speech should be heartfelt and meaningful not only to the speaker but also to the bride and groom.  

A quick, minute and a half speech about why you love or her or a memory you have of her and her husband will be much more memorable and touching than some generic gibberish.

Usually the maid of honor give the toast at the bridal shower and the best man gives it at the wedding.  Don't worry about it.  It shouldn't be rehearsed.  It should come from the heart.  Don't even think about it.  Just say what comes to mind.

I think you should write a speech from the heart. Talk about what she really means to you. Also say something about her new husband. You shouldn't be going to websites in order to find wedding speeches. They are supposed to be original. But you should include maybe a funny story and make sure your speech is short and sweet. Nothing bores guests like a long speech.
